This hotel was originally built in the 1800's as a resort and once may have even been owned by Al Capone. It is nicknamed the Hotel Hell because of all the eerie occurrences here. The whole place is said to glow by the light of a full moon, a ghostly reminder of a 1920's fire. The apparitions of a young girl wearing a black dress has also been seen here, along with blood that appears on the walls, yells and oppressive bad feelings come from the basement, and the smell of sewer gas in the bathrooms. Witnesses say there is a stack of books that at least once has burst into ghostly flames. An eerie sound of singing has also been heard at the location. A spectral carriage pulled by white horses has also been reported near the stables.

  • Marbel Caves

I visited the Marabel Caves in 2000. I had 6 pp with me and we got to 1st cave as we could see our truck in parking lot through leaves, i walked 3 steps inside cave and lost hours!! We all woke up same time in darkness with light rain and hearing river to the right of us ww all yelling " wtf happened" as one of the guys ran to top and turned on headlights so we all could see where to head to through the woods as we couldnt see the trail and feeling something behind us, a presence of something but we coukd not see anything. We all were accounted for and not injured but lost hours as we git to the cave sunshine all day at 2pm beautiful summer aug day and boom!!! Waking in darkness. Rain. At 9pm. None of us remember anything and lost hours... i will never go there again. But since that happened "odd" things have happened to me since, like ghosts sightings, creature sightings, feeling of presences. Passed on also to my child born after that incident she too has what i have.. a sick sense i guess....

  • Ruins!

1st, the property is privately owned and technically would require you to trespass without owners permission. 2nd, here is a pak/nature preserve right next to it in which you can visit caves but also get a better look at the hotel (ruins). Again, still has a fence indicating private property. We got to the area late and the nature preserve closes at 8PM. Some caves were not open. It was beautiful and they do offer guided cave tours on the weekend. 3rd, the hotel is literally in ruins, even more so than the picture shows. It was an experience!

  • Mostly destroyed

Google more recent image before you visit. The hotel was almost completely leveled by a tornado in 2014(?). House directly to the north owns the property, and he does not care for "curious" folk. View from the road, or sneak up on the south via Cherney Maribel Caves County Park to snap a couple QUICK pics....
